We’re proud to present a product that enables Residential Aged Care to meet the standards in Antimicrobial Stewardship with our AMS Quality Improvement Compendium for C. Diff (Clostridioides difficile or C. difficile)
It is common for residents of Residential Aged Care to acquire C. Diff and for C. Diff to be identified and diagnosed without a medical assessment.
Bug Control can make AMS easy. Analyse your surveillance data and choose from one or all of our RN developed compendiums to improve the well-being of residents, reduce inappropriate use of antibiotics in your facility and meet the AMS standard requirements.
Increased antibiotic use in the aged care setting has become a significant threat to our residents with the increasing use of antibiotics in facilities and the community.
C. Diff is the most common cause of health-acquired diarrhoea in the long-term setting and 8-10 cases of C. Diff are in the over 65 age group.
The CDC reports that 1 in 11 people over 65 will die within one month of contracting the infection. Many studies indicate that increasing infection prevention training alone is insufficient to prevent C. Diff.
This resource pack was informed by a study that was successful in reducing C. Diff using a collaborative approach to reducing the incidences of C. Diff and saving lives.
